The Jagged Couple

Meet Grandfather Crocodile. He seems a bit of a grumpy chap when you see him at first, but honestly he is a soft soul. Made out of egg carton and paper, he looks at the world through his orange glasses and even smiles now and then. And oh, his heart....

Just moments after his own creation another Crocodile creature was made. And the moment Grandfather Crocodile laid eyes on Grandmother Crocodile, he felt his heart flutter of joy. Those bright white paper teeth. That perky pink bow. And I think I saw her ogle him too. I am sure it was love at first sight, for both of them. And how could it not be? They were both made by the loving hands of Lucas and Sarah, especially to be given to celebrate the wedding anniversary of their grandparents. With a common goal like that, how could they not feel like soul mates?

Today they traveled together with our family to their new home, where they were welcomed with joy and admiration. They were placed on a prominent place this day, but even if they end up on a quiet shelf on the attic someday I am pretty sure they will think it's fine. As long as they have eachother. True love, I tell you!
Row Row Row

A smoothly working production line: Lucas reads the manual, Sarah places the parts and Chris uses heavy machinery to attach the things that they cannot.

Knit purl knit purl.. My mother discovered the scarf that I am knitting (ahum) and decided I could use some help. I think she could be right. With her help I might even finish it one day, to actually wear it.
Where I was during all this? Well, lying on the ground taking pictures ofcourse. Higly important. And trying to get the song 'row row row your boat' out of my mind, while watching Olivier make perfect rows with his cars. I haven't succeeded yet. Maybe I should check out some new songs online. Any suggestions?

Saturday Snapshots

Even though it has been raining like madness the last couple of weeks, and even though we are chilly and some of us are even sniffing and sneezing like it's the middle of fall, we are not quite ready yet to give up on summer.
Today on the local fair we made rides on the carousel and enjoyed some ice creams. And as if she felt the expectations of all those people there in our little town, the sun decided to show up and warm us with her beams.
I wish you all a lovely and summery weekend!
"Not Dressed Properly"?

Chris and my dad were making fun of me big time, because of my clothes and especially my shoes during some helping I did in the new studio. Yes, I know. It looks out of place. But what can I say, I am a girly girl type of woman. Being raised by a dad who taught me women should be feminine all the time, no matter the occasion, and being married to a man who loves that aspect of me and tells me that every time again, makes that part of me blossom more and more through the years. I can't help it.
Just saying...
Tomorrow

It's the end of the summer break. We had a wonderful time. Went away together and with family for weekends. Played lots of games. And even more games. We started the change of the garage into a studio. We built, with lego and wood. We lived outside, for most of the day. We enjoyed summer, with eachother.
Tomorrow school starts again. Lucas ofcourse is going back, but this time Sarah will join him. She looks forward to it, talks about being a big girl now and is excited in the anticipation of meeting new friends and learning about all kinds of interesting subjects.
I think she will love everything about it. And I think I will enjoy the extra time I will have on my hands when they are in school, to spend with little Olivier, but also to sew, take photographs, create. To be a bit more active on this blog again, too. Especially in the new studio that looks closer and closer to being finished every day.
Yes, I feel like I should be excited thinking about tomorrow and this new period to come. And I know I will be. In a little while. When I finally will be able to swallow the lump in my throat.
My little girl is going to school...

My name is Karin. I sew, cook and
take pictures. I tell stories. I dream. I love books, fashion, hot
baths, conversations that make me re-think my ideas and opinions. I
fantasize and realize. And above and beyond all, I am mama to
Lucas, Sarah and Olivier.
